As another year comes to an end, we want to express our gratitude to everyone we have collaborated with in 2024. We continue to be inspired by the ideas makers from across UCSF bring to the space and we are in awe of your innovative approach to learning, teaching, and research. Below are just a few of the things we have accomplished together over the year.
Education
- Offered the 3D Printing for Health Sciences Students electives in the winter, spring, and summer quarters with a total of 56 UCSF dental and medical students. Read about one of the amazing student-led projects to come out of the 2024 electives.
- Supported the UCSF Hematology & Oncology fellowship program for the sixth consecutive year through our collaboration with Associate Clinical Professor, Gerald Hsu, MD, PhD. The models for this program were designed and manufactured by Makers Lab Engineer, Jenny Tai. The lumbar puncture (LP) components are published open access on NIH 3D and have been utilized most recently in augmented reality (AR) studies by pediatricians in Lima, Peru.
- Collaborated with Associate Professor, Barbie Klein, PhD, from the UCSF Department of Anatomy to design and manufacture a life-like brain model for a collaboration with the UCSF Science and Health Education Partnership (SEP). The model will be used to connect and engage K-12 students, educators, scientists, and health professionals at upcoming Bay Area Science Festivals to build an inclusive and diverse science and health community.
- 3D printed 1,568 models for UCSF education and research.
- Offered 46 pop-ups and events. Pop-up recordings are available on UCSF MediaSpace.
