Our commitment to diversity
We commit to building a diverse and inclusive Library as a means of promoting health equality and counteracting historic and current systems of oppression.
We do this through
- Acting upon the UCSF PRIDE values and Principles of Community on a daily basis
- Deepening our understanding of how systematic and historic oppression have led to present inequalities
- Cultivating welcoming spaces and services to strengthen the UCSF community
- Supporting the professional success and personal well being of our diverse learners and staff
- Promoting equal access to information through open access and open science
- Working to recruit and develop a diverse staff and inclusive work environment
- Working to create and maintain a community that is free of all forms of sexual harassment
We are inspired and guided by
- United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights that recognized that “the inherent dignity and … the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world.”
