I am delighted to announce the promotion of Micquel Little from Associate University Librarian for Research and Learning to Deputy University Librarian, effective July 1st. Since joining UCSF Library in 2019, Micquel has demonstrated exemplary leadership, innovative vision, and a steadfast commitment to enhancing our library services and operations. Her personal values and professional philosophy, centered on people development and support, have empowered our teams and significantly enriched our community’s experience.
In her updated role, Micquel will continue to oversee the Research and Learning services, including Access Services, Data Science and Open Scholarship, Education and Clinical Research, Facilities, Instructional Design, Makers Lab, and Technology Innovations of the Library. Additionally, her responsibilities will expand to include Outreach and Marketing as well as User Experience and Technology Strategy and Systems.
Micquel will also be formally responsible for several additional operational activities that she has already taken on, including oversight of the library’s ongoing strategic planning and implementation, data collection and assessment, and activities that enhance unit managers’ engagement in library operations both independently and in collaboration with library leadership.
An effective ambassador for libraries, Micquel will continue to represent UCSF Library within various UCSF, UC, state, and national committees, enhancing our visibility and fostering partnerships with industry vendors, leaders, and organizations.
Please join me in congratulating Micquel on her well-deserved promotion. We are excited to work with Micquel in her new role. We are confident that her leadership will continue to drive our mission forward, supporting our faculty, students, and staff.
