OUR MISSION
The mission of the UCSF Library and Center for Knowledge Management is to advance science, foster excellence in teaching and learning, and promote health through the collection, development, organization, and dissemination of the world's health sciences knowledge base.

The Center for Knowledge Management (CKM) is an innovative division of the Library that concentrates resources and expertise for the development of digital knowledge bases, electronic tools, and the sophisticated computing and communications infrastructure required for the Library.
 
Under the direction of Karen Butter, University Librarian and Assistant Vice Chancellor, Library Services and Instructional Technology, the Library is staffed by approximately 100 employees.

PARNASSUS LIBRARY ARCHITECTURE
Opened in September 1990, the Kalmanovitz building was designed by Esherick, Homsey, Dodge & Davis. The interiors of the 120,000 gross sq. ft. building were designed by SMWM and feature maple, cherry, and spruce wood on five floors. The building is named after Paul and Lydia Kalmanovitz.
